Prolouge
In the waning years, in the dry, cold, seemingly eternal Autumn, it begins. Our benevolent King Ophaesa is dead, and has been for several years. The crowning of King Aeridain marks the end of the Whispered War, but also the begining of a much more tumultous time. Old conflicts, yet unresolved, are left to fester in the absence of a capable leader.
"The Disciples of Utomora", a powerful religous sect, begins to distance itself from the monarchy. Under Ophaesa's rule, they were tolerated, despite several terrorist-esque attacks by the groups extremists. Aeridain, having always disagreed with his cousin, declares war moments after his ascencion to the throne. But that was only his first decree.
In his second, Aeridain declared that any found guilty of being a Disciple could be charged with a crime- or even killed. He certainly was not the forgiving type.
But the Third Decree, "The Black Sky Decree", "The Mandatory Cremation Decree"- disgusted even powerful supporters of Aeridain. It required that all bodies-enemy or ally- be automatically burned without exception. Simply because the King feared Necromancy. Dark smoke from the cremation bonfires often covered the sky, and blocked the sun for days at a time.
Neither side is innocent, or without fault. Though each seems to be displaying its negative attributes, both are rooted in positive ideaology. And so the conflict has been named "The War of Ideals", a war in wich neither side can win by ordinary means. Both have tapped into dangerous forces, beyond most mortal comprehension.
And so it is the duty of a chosen few to save our beloved home, from it's rulers and it's extremist, it's Lawmakers and Priests. In short, it is their duty to save Lindalia from itself.
(Note: This is just the prolouge, I know it's short so bear with me)
