I waste no time as I exit the lodge. No use looking for the assassin. I won’t be able to find him. The Dark Brotherhood is at work here. What could I have done that would be worth a prayer to Sithis? I have enemies, that’s for sure. But none would resort to asking the Dread Father for help. None of this makes any sense. I have to find answers, and fast. I used to have a contact in the Black Hand itself. Lucien was a speaker in the Black Hand. A man of rather importance it would seem. I doubt he could stop me from being assassinated, but surely he would of sent me some kind of warning. Still haven’t heard from him in quite sometime. Maybe things have changed in the Brotherhood.
I can’t find Syilvia with the Brotherhood after my neck. I doubt they’d be willing to talk to me either. Especially when I plan on killing one of them. That Bosmer’s face is burned into my memory. I guess he left his hood down to not look suspicious. It worked. I know what he looks like now though. Doesn’t matter, I’m not going to find him. I don’t have too. He won’t want to go back and report his failure. He’ll come after me again, and this time I’ll be ready.
I have to keep my senses sharp, as I mount my horse. I don’t bother to tell the guards at the gate about Mazoga. They’ll find out soon enough. I head north west along the dirt path. My mind is in a hazy state. Time seems to flow slowly, as the constant rushing by of the trees becomes just a green blur. My vision becomes a tunnel of intent. I’m on a mission. I need to find Syilvia, but I need to lose the Brotherhood as well. I guess most of all I need… Information. And I know just where to go.
Several hours pass, when I finally see the gates to my home town. Bravil. The site of her usually brings warmth to my heart, but this time It leaves me cold, and hollow. Still… I try to convince myself, its all a misunderstanding. That its all one big mistake. That when I walk through my door, I’m going to find Syilvia there, her arms wide open. Her beautiful smile greets me at the door. I take her hand in mine, and we put this whole day behind us.
The gates to Bravil slam shut behind me, awaking me from my daydream. Its not good for my mind to wander, especially when an assassin is out to kill me. The dust blows in the wind, its grainy texture rests upon my dry lips. I don’t bother dismounting my horse, I snap the reins and speed off to the center of town. I pull up to a stop, in front of an average looking two story shack. Nothing fancy. Sure we could’ve lived better, but we didn’t like to draw attention to ourselves. Not with my line of work.
I hop off the saddle and walk up slowly to the door. I take a deep breath, and close my eyes, pausing for a moment. I open my eyes, exhaling as I do so and extend my arm to the door. Its not locked, and pushes open with ease. I open it slowly, the creaking noise of the wood creeps up my spine, increasing my nervous state. We didn’t have much, but what we did have was strung along the room. The entire house was in disarray. A struggle has definitely taken place here. “SYILVIA!?” I call out her name, with fleeting hopes. I fail to receive a response… Not like I expected it at this point.
The time for caution has passed, as I rush into the room and make my way quickly up the stairs. I check each room above. Nothing is missing, and the rooms upstairs are neat, items still placed in their proper settings. Whatever happened, happened downstairs. I descend the stairs and search the room, for anything that might give me some kind of clue to what happened.
Although the area is a mess, I don’t see anything missing from this room either. They weren’t common thieves. They came specifically for her… But why? I don’t see any blood. So perhaps she lives. They must of taken her alive. The Brotherhood wouldn’t of bothered to conceal the body, unless it was suppose to be secret kill. If that were the case there would be no sign of a struggle at all. When the Brotherhood takes you out.. they leave nothing left to follow.
Mazoga said a beggar noticed three men entering my house and leaving with a large sack. I leave my broken home, shutting the door behind me. I still need answers, and I’m not really any closer to finding out what happened to Syilvia, or why the Brotherhood wants me dead. I could try asking one of the beggars in town myself, but this is an emergency, and I don’t have time to work my way up the information chain. No… I’m going to have to go straight to the source. I’ve never set eyes on him, but right now I need his resources, and he may very well be my only hope. I have to see… The Gray Fox.

Why are you that much better than me?
Durin's rather lucky for his contacts with just about every influencial person in Cyrodiil.

Why are you that much better than me? Durin's rather lucky for his contacts with just about every influencial person in Cyrodiil. Never claimed to be better than you Valgaera, I think your stories are superb!! Duric makes alot of contacts as he often transfers important items for some very important people. He is less known in all of Tamriel, but Cyrodiil is his home country, and he knows it well. He is, in a rough definition, a pirate.. but he doesn't consider himself one... (there is a reason for this, but the story will get into that later) Most of the people Duric knows he knew when they were nobody. He knew Lucien before he was in the brotherhood, and he knew Mazoga before she was a knight. Luck is one of his major attributes as well.
