In reply Phoenix drew the weapons he had gotten at his house. An Akiviri blade, the likes of which the lands of Cyrodil had never seen. The magic blade shone brightly yet cast no light. On his belt an enchanted glass dagger was revealed, as well as beautifully crafted armor under his traveling cloak. He gathered his magic, and prepared for a fight.
"You shall go for the casters, I shall defeat their beasts," Phoenix told his friend Narlock. After Narlock nodded he sprang into the attack.
He leaped over a mighty swing from the first beast, and rolled between its legs. As it turned he baited the other beast into taking a swing by launching a spell of frost. As the first beast lunged forward the second swung. He placed his palm against the ground and whispered a spell. The spell caused him to immediately shoot upward. The second beast struck the first across its demonic face.
The fire spell he used to launch himself upward lost its effect, and he dropped down on the first beasts head. His sword pointed straight down, and pierced its skull. He jumped off as the remaining beast reached up to grab him. He sent a spell of shock through its outstretched arm, and readied himself for its next attack.
The beast pointed its arm at him, and a spike lunged forth from its palm. He twirled his blade into the path of the spike, and blocked the blow. The beast beat his blade out of alignment, and lunged forward arms outstretched. He lunged under the blow and drove his sword upward into its guts. Phoenix pushed the beast over, and turned to watch Narlock dispatch the last golden scaled opponent.
They stood over their kills for an hour. It was to dark to travel now, plus they wanted to burn the bodies. They began to get firewood when an arrow whistled from the opposite side of the rode. Bandits, what luck.
