I'm going to love this board! nothing I enjoy more then discussing religion.
I have no religion. There is no name for what I believe. I have faith. Faith in myself, and faith in others. I know the power of man, and the dangers he presents. I truly believe there is an unseen force that guides us to a certain fate. God?... maybe.
I look at evolution with much skepticism. Just because you give it a fancy name to describe an event, I don't see the proof. This isn't just my thoughts on religion, or the origins of life, but for all history as well. A newspaper... A reporter... A magazine article.... Or a news broadcast, all report on the same stories, but often they are different or some place blame on different parties.
Point is we can't even get the facts straight in everyday life... I'm suppose to believe the facts that come from some history book?? I don't think so. Teachers will swear to these events blindly.. they weren't there... they don't know what happened. They too read it in a book. And all should know that just cause its in a book.. doesn't mean its true. So if I know that they don't know what happened in the history books... Why in the hell should I believe some scientist about what took place billions of years ago? The whole Idea is idiotic in my opinion.
Still I separate evolution from religion, for one has little to nothing to do with the other. I believe one should find his own path in life. I have gone to different churches just to learn, and experience what is taught to others. I didn't really go to learn, and certainly not to mock their religion. I went on a quest for truth. My truth.. My faith. What is real to me?
I have found my path in life. But it is mine, and mine alone.
Still I don't understand how one can claim to be a proud atheist. what exactly are you proud of? Not believing in god? Is it really such a bad thing?
Let me ask you this... and please everyone remember I'm speaking hypothetically. even if god didn't exist, is his message really that bad? How would the world behave if nobody thought their to be consequences to following the 10 commandments? I know its not a place I'd want to be. God fearing people, follow these rules because they fear god. I don't think thats such a bad Idea. Even if its not something I agree with.
But nobody can truly understand another's faith, or lack thereof. For we are made up of ourselves. I'll never truly understand any of you... And none of you could ever truly understand me.
