True, but most mages are pretty scrawny fellows. While I know that most mages dont use combat, magicka does take a toll on your body. remember, in the beginning one of them had a warhammer. these are not scrawny fellows. they are modeled after characters i have actually made in the game. my first playthrough my weapon of choice was a claymore, my second one was H2H, my third and current is warhammer.

Fun Fact: I found an awesome ring in oblivion yesterday. It brings your H2H up 25 points and gives you 33% damage reflection. It's called the Ring of the Iron Fist. It's just random Loot.

uhhhhh...it was a mine, the one that the Blackwood company attacked the Fighter's guildmaster's son in and killed him. i can't remember the name. I was pretty excited when i found it, i had just turned it on to play for fifteen minutes, and came up with great treasure. Even if it was old news.

“I guess I’ll use a hammer. I’ve been practicing with one, this will be the first time I’ve used one in battle”.
“Good Luck, Aldrgar! Don’t get yourself killed,” laughed Sothe. He knew that nothing stood a chance against Aldrgar. He had seen Aldrgar fight trolls and Minotaur Lords like they were nothing. A human shouldn’t be much trouble at all.
Aldrgar walked up to the gate, and examined his opponent from across the arena. He was outraged to see 2 Argonians standing there. One was wearing robes, apparently a spell caster. The other held a short sword. Aldrgar was worried. A hammer isn’t much use against a short sword, he’ll have to hit him before the Argonian could hack at him with the sword. The Gates opened.
The one with the robes hung back, casting spells on his friend. Aldrgar readied his hammer for a swing as the one with the sword came darting at him. He swung his hammer, aiming for the Argonian’s midriff. With amazing speed, the Argonian leapt aside, slashing Aldrgar’s shoulder open. Cringing with pain, Aldrgar shot a quick fire spell at the Argonian as he came by for a second pass. It hit him in the leg, and the smell of burnt flesh filled the air.
Suddenly, Aldrgar felt a jolt go through him. It looks like the mage is finally taking some offensive action. No matter, Aldrgar thought. He had been around magic all his life. He didn’t take much harm, he was just a bit shaken. The mage would probably be tired, that spell would take a lot out of a mage who was competing in the arena. If he was powerful, he probably wouldn’t be risking his life out here. But then again, we are, thought Aldrgar.
The Argonian with the sword came at him again, this time not moving to the side fast enough to dodge the hammer. It came down on his shoulder, shattering his bone. The Argonian screamed with pain, but knew that he had to keep fighting. He brought his sword up, but Aldrgar blocked it with the handle of the hammer, and was about to bring the hammer down on the Argonian’s head when he felt the shocking again. His moment of revelation cost him dearly. The Argonian escaped, and even got a quick hit in Aldrgar’s side.
Time to deal with this petty spellcaster. Aldrgar turned to the spell caster, and yelled “As Tasark Keinabeyo!” A blue bolt of lightning shot from his finger tips, hitting the spell caster in the leg as he flung himself to the side. His leg was burnt black, and he screamed out in pain. As the sword wielding Argonian stared at his unfortunate friend, Aldrgar turned on him and brought his hammer down, aiming for the head. The Argonian brought his sword up to block, but the blow was too hard. The hammer came down on his head, and it burst, showering Aldrgar in brains, blood, and gore.
Aldrgar turned to the other Argonian, now unconscious from pain, and summoned a Daedroth.
“Feast, my friend.”
Then he turned and left.
“You guys continue to astound me, as well as the spectators. You guys are becoming legends now. You ready for another battle?”
