"Screw it," thought Joka. "I got a better chance scrapping the bugger from here."
Joka positioned himself as quietly as he could so he had a direct shot at the droid's head. He tensed up and steadied his aim. Joka looked through the green sights of his bowcaster's scope. Checking to make sure the safety was off, Joka inhaled a deep breath. He pulled the trigger to charge up the bolt. As the bolt entered the firing slot a slight humming was heard as energy surrounded it and cast an eerily green glow.
Joka let go of the trigger, firing the supercharged bolt. A bright green flash flew through the vent and impacted against the droids head. Metal and glass erupted in small balls of energy produced flame as the droids head was obliterated.
"Guess I held the trigger down a little too much," said Joka with a bit of a hushed laugh. He opened up his comm link with Miner with a few quick blinks.
"Miner? Get your ass up," said Joka. "There's something you need to see." Joka hadn't bothered to wake Miner up when he spotted the droid in fear of it hearing him and blowing the ship to Hell.
Miner woke up with a long yawn. "What time is it?" he asked as he got up and stretched the best he could in the vent. "Just get over here," said Joka.
"Comin'," said Miner as he got up into a crouch and made his way slowly to Joka's position. "What's the problem?"
"Take a look," said Joka as he handed the bowcaster to Miner. "What the Hell? Why is a headless droid next to a pile of thermal detonators?" asked Miner, utterly perplexed.
"I wondered the same thing, so I shot it," said Joka with a big grin behind his helmet.
"We gotta tell Zeus about this," said Miner, moving to open the vent to drop down.
"What about the droid? We can't just leave it here and let some cook wander in and see it," said Joka. "That'll cause major panic."
"You're right," said Miner. "Here, help me get it up here. I'll check the charges to make sure they aren't armed."
"Alright," said Joka as miner pried the vent open and silently dropped down. Joka followed him and switched to night vision. Miner had drawn his DC-15 in case something else came in. Joka had his bowcaster, turning around in each direction as he moved to look for any hostiles he might have missed.
They reached the decapitated droid and took a look at it. "Weird, this is just a protocol droid," said miner. "Someone must've hacked it and given it the charges to blow the ship. Too bad this model's memory core is located in its head."
"What? I had to aim for a kill shot," said Joka defensively. "What if it already had the charges linked to a remote detonator and was merely arranging them?"
"Whatever," said Miner. "Check the door to see if anyone is coming." Miner began to disarm the charges.
"Okay," said Joka. He walked over to the door and looked out through the circular window. The hallway was completely empty.
Miner was muttering to himself, remembering anti-demolitions tactics, as he shut off the charges.
"Miner someone's coming," said Joka over the comm. "And it looks like they're armed."
"Bantha crap," said Miner. "Quick hide behind the counter. We could safely look at them. That may be a civilian."
"This late and possibly armed?" asked Joka. "I don't think so. I say we flashbang 'em and tackle their ass."
