Basically we are in the process of revamping the Arena, and this question was raised. Should the arena continue to be in the Elder Scrolls universe, or should it be recreated in a universe that we will make just for this section of the site?
For those of you who don't know, the Arena is a large scale Role Playing project, in which we live the life of people who have just joined the Arena. We live life in the blooded hallways, we fight for money on the sandy floor, and we interact in this large area.
Traditionally this has been set in the Elder Scrolls universe, but we don't really react with the outside world enough to actually recognize that fact. Plus, being in the Elder Scrolls world means that we only have a small space to use if we wish to stay within cannon. That space is the small room below the arena, as well as the arena itself. If we were to make our own universe we can have a better area in which our characters can interact.
But it is really your decision, so consider the options and cast your votes.

I am for a more open and creative world, with very few limits. The Elder Scrolls influence on the site has slowly faded with time, and though we started as the Oblivion Story Writing guild, with new members have come new interests and opinions.
Another solution would be that only the arena is set in the Elder Scrolls universe, and characters can be from anywhere or anytime.
