OBLIVION STORY WRITING GUILD
"The Point of this guild is Writing...
The time has come for this site to change back into what it's purpose is; writing. This board has become much more socially involved, then i think, it should have. The fate of this site depends on you. The staff can only do as much as encourage you, so i ask, all of you, veteran and new members, please write and read. The name of this site is Oblivion Story Writers Guild, not the Social Oblivion Guild.Notice i underlined guild, this meens we all have to contribute, we are a guild. This is well overdue. The Guild is wavering on its base, and the followong things are things we need to deal with:
- Promtotions
- Purpsoe
- Commenting
- Revival
PROMOTIONS:
Promotions are determined by contribution to this site. This does not meen that the more posts you have, the higher rank you get. People who have 100 posts can be a high rank. Just do waht you ARE supposed to do here, read and write.

I'm not saying that i should be promoted, only that i have not seen a promotion around here in years. it seems like members join and get a rank up right away if they post alot, but then they hit a wall. No one has advanced from common, exceeding, or beginner in a very long time. I don't know what the hell Maliku is doing at beginner rank, he's a great guy. And if it's becuase he's not on enough, then what are Uesugi and VICTORBRAVO doing at exceeding, and Delta doing as a mod?
hate to sound like an ass, but this problem needs attention.

Some of this is true. Uesugi deserves his rank however, I believe. Not to put him on the spot, but i would like to use him as an example. Uesugi, is one of the Few people left out of the nearly 80 people who still comment on stories, write stories (excellent ones i might add) and has contributed to the guild more then he knows. I will not go into much further detail for his privacy.
PURPOSE
Thank you to Uesugi for major Support and...
What is this place? Why are we here? This is a writing site, this is a place where, above all, one should be able to declare that they can write and that their writing deserves a rank. If you've come here to talk, if you've come here to hang out, then you might just be in the wrong place. Up there, it says writing guild, and I'd hope writing is value at this writing guild.
A member who writes better than most of the site is considered 'eh' simply because he isn't on a lot? Wow, how sad. A writer, coming to this site to write, is considered ineligible for a promotion simply because he has a life, because he doesn't want to be on all the time.
Since when was writing not a contribution? People don't come here to hang out, as I've said. They come here to write or to read foremost, other things coming second. Someone should not be denied their recognition as a writer of quality simply because they don't post in RPs or come up with a decent idea. So what fi they never speak in the chat box. A writer comes to write, and that is their contribution, and it is the foremost contribution a writing guild could ever ask for.
Bike Ride Went Awry is far better than most anything that any of us have written (granted I've seen it finished). I think it is time we acknowledged writers instead of people who get on and chatter.

Commeting:
Thanks again to Uesugi for this
In line with Raist's threads, I felt like posting this, seeing as it's been something I've noticed for a long while.
When someone posts a story, it generally is read by only one or two users continuously. Then they usually leave a comment like 'good job'. Well this is all fine and dandy, but it does little to help the writer. But I don't think a commentor should be restricted in their comments all the time.
So I came up with this weird idea, something independent of the staff, something that doesn't lay scope to those who want no part of it, and basically something that is run by the users.
What if, at least once a week, anyone who wants to take part in this read over every story updated within the past week and left a comment? Not just a 'good job' type comment, but something with real critquement in it. It would provide the author with their faults and their strengths, give them an idea of where they need to improve. Obviously it wouldn't be perfect, none of us are truly amazing writers or readers, but we at least all have the basic idea of what turns us on and off to a story.
It would end us just sticking to reading the same stories by the same members. We need variety in life, or so they say, and I think this is how I'll get it. And it can benefit the community, creating better writers and stories that are more enjoyable then they are now. And, like I said, this is best left staff independent, as it may become too... organized, then.
I myself will begin reading through General Writing on Saturdays and Tuesdays, Fanfiction on Saturdays, and Poems on Sundays. I hope others begin doing this too...

Many things need to be revived. Too much people are heading to the social boards, rather then stories. Howeverm the stories have been at least somewhat commented, updated, but the follwoing, have not:
- The Factions
- RP
Please start posting in these, like i have said, all i can offer is encouragement, you have to help to actually do it.
